Abstract | The article examines the role of the music teacher in a self-directed learning setting that integrates informal learning practices in a school context. There is a lack of empirical research on the role of the teacher in projects, such as Musical Futures. In line with grounded theory and a systemic inquiry, four roles of the teacher were constructed from the perspectives of 12 groups who learned a song with a predominantly absent teacher. The role of teacher as leader can be found in conventional learning routines in school lessons. The teacher as mentor simplifies the learning process through the integration of the teacher's experiences. The teacher as consultant intervenes only when the group is not able to find its own solutions. And the teacher as contractee expects students to handle the task alone without intervention but within a consensual frame of the student-teacher-relationship. (DIPF/Orig.). |
