(DIPF/Orig.). In the Norwegian political discourse on early childhood education and care the expansion of childcare institutions is - among other aspects - legitimised with the aim to conserve childhood as 'play childhood'. In contrast to Norway, the German discourse on early childhood education and care is lacking the conceptualisation of a 'good childhood' as 'play childhood'. Against this background this article is aiming to answer the following questions: In which contexts can the presence respectively absence of a 'play childhood' be observed? What are the characteristics of this 'play childhood' and what consequences can arise from its absence. (DIPF/Orig.). |
