Abstract | This paper introduces sub-tasks that deal with short films in French language teaching. The two short films presented here are Jean-Bernard Marlin's "La Fugue" and Augusto Zanovello's "Lettres de femmes". Both short films are well suited for the language classroom because of their topical focus as well as their cinematic realisation. As both films substantially differ in their making, they can be used to present a broad selection of sub-tasks dealing with different aspects of the aesthetics of film: in addition to their narratology, they especially differ in the respect that "La Fugue" is shaped by the use of a hand-held camera whereas "Lettres de femmes" is an animation movie in Stop Motion. The tasks also strive to develop discourse competence in the field of film analysis. (Verlag, adapt.). |
