Abstract | Aus der Einleitung: "Wie läuft eine Badewanne aus?" From the introduction (translation): "How does the emptying process of a bath tub look like?" One answer is: "The emptier the slower." Mathematics teachers' answers usually include all common models of school mathematics, from "linear" to "quadratic" and "anti-proportional", up to "exponential". Do students give similar answers? This question is investigated in a modelling competition for 9th graders in mathematics, in order to consolidate the knowledge of modelling with functions and the use of trend lines of spreadsheet software ("regression statistics"). |
