Abstract | "This book presents an analysis of participation of farm households and communities in the transfer process of advanced agricultural technologies. Focusing on ethnic minority groups in the mountainous region of Northern Vietnam. The determinants of farm households and communities' participation in the transfer process were identified by mean of a logit model whose parameters are estimated by a logistic regression analysis. The study results show that farm households and communities' participation in the transfer process and advanced agricultural technologies have a positive impact on farm households' income and poverty reduction. Participation by women and the poor was less and poor contribution of farm households and communities to the transfer process; advanced agricultural technologies are, therefore, neither efficient nor sustainable. Important policies to encourage farm households; communities and local authorities to contribute more to the transfer process, to have appropriate policies to motivate voluntary establishment of grass root extension networks and to increase the participation rate of the poor and the female in the transfer process through pro-poor/female programs."
