Abstract | In a society controlled by knowledge older educational experiences and topics might need a new inspection and deliberation. This is especially necessary where educational knowledge as such is at stake, i.e. when although very important is blocked or obscured from the pedagogical view by seemingly more attractive or politically correct aspects. This phenomenon of pedagogical blocking, obscuring (Verstellungen) aspects more important for the future of the next generation is brought to light here. Some historical, epistemic, and psychologic approaches to this phenomenon lead to a first systematic analysis, a demonstration of two educationally obscured examples of today (population decline, rebirth of religion), and a discussion of the problem of balance between pedagogically enlightened care and illusions of total awareness.
