Abstract | This publication is the second volume of the EUSTORY-Paper series. . .. EUSTORY is the title of a European-wide Körber Foundation project that supports initiatives focusing on history and a range of traditions and experiences. A goal of the project is to promote mutual understanding and the idea of a common European past and future. ... [This publication] is addressed to history teachers, experts and all those interested in the development of our network of independent history competitions in Europe. It shows the variety of topics and approaches which are part of this network. It provides information on different experiences and common standards in thirteen European countries so far: Belarus, Bulgaria, Estonia, Germany and Norway belong to the network as well as Poland, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Slovenia, Turkey, the Ukraine and Wales. [This publication] also presents practical advice on financial and organisational issues for those interested in starting a new competition. As an additional service an extensive bibliography on the teaching of history, national identity and historical consciousness in Europe is included. (DIPF/ Orig.). |
