Abstract | There is much controversy as to how democracy should be understood. The focus of this collection "is on how persons use and are affected by educational institutions in public processes of decision making. The term ' democratization' ... emphasizes process rather that structure, behaviour rather than status. The chapters examine whether and how education contributes in increased democracy." The volume is a collection of reprints of articles which have been published earlier, mainly in the journal "Comparative Education Review".
