Abstract | In this article, the author reports on a new symposium series which aims to provide a forum for dialogue across different interest groups of the languages field as a basis for considering a viable, encompassing language education policy; and, to position the languages community to address the important development of a national curriculum. Four specific focus areas were addressed in the symposium: (1) the current state of policy and participation in languages education and languages teacher education; (2) engaging with diversity; (3) current orientations to languages education; and (4) future possibilities and directions in languages education.
