Abstract | Relationships become so close in early childhood programs that many parents describe early childhood staff as their children's "extended family." And yet, no matter how genuine attachments are, there still remains the fact that parents are, in fact, the school's paying customers. When money is exchanged in the U.S., the typical rule of thumb for business culture is "The Customer is Always Right." However, there are instances wherein parents ask the school for services that are not in children's best interests. As such, conflicts occur between a school's staff and parents. This article provides strategies on how these types of conflicts can be minimized or prevented. (Contains 22 resources.) (ERIC). |
