Abstract | The number of children being identified as having autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has been increasing, and with this increase, the number of adolescents needing post-secondary transition services has increased. Many adolescents with ASD have needs related to employment, and educators are in need of effective employment related interventions for supporting them. Researchers must identify effective interventions to help individuals with ASD obtain and maintain employment. This study is a meta-analysis of single-case design research data on employment interventions for secondary students with ASD in peer-reviewed journals between 2001 and 2022. An extensive search identified 74 participants across 28 studies that met inclusion criteria. An analysis was completed using Tau-U to compare intervention results from different studies. The results from the included studies demonstrated a moderate effect size for the interventions on the acquisition of employment skills for students with ASD. Potential moderator variables were analyzed with several showing significant differences. These results and implications for research and practice are discussed.
