AbstractThe purpose of this study was to explore the aspects of professional experiences, which directly impact teacher satisfaction, dissatisfaction, and morale in the State of Hawaii Leeward District Campbell Complex. The use of a Teacher Satisfaction and Teacher Retention Questionnaire combined with a five point Likert-type scale survey was used to find the factors affecting teacher satisfaction and teacher retention. Panel members were offered a voice to answer questions and respond to a survey that reached consensus on factors and characteristics. An analysis of the data brought forth recommendations to improve teacher satisfaction and retention, and suggested ways school administrators could better serve their faculties. One such recommendation reinforced the need for schools to work with local colleges and universities to strengthen teacher education programs.
