Abstract | This document reports on a congressional hearing on the George W. Bush administration's proposals for welfare reform and legislation to reauthorize the 1996 welfare reform law. Testimony includes statements from United States (US) Representatives John Boehner and Patsy Mink; Tommy G. Thompson, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; and Wendell Primus, director of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities; and Jason A. Turner, visiting fellow, the Heritage Foundation. Appendixes include written statements and testimony of the individuals who presented live statements and testimony; a list of groups that have endorsed H.R. 3113, The TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) Reauthorization Act; and questions from minority members.
