Abstract | This report presents the results of the Rockingham Community College financial statement audit for the fiscal year ending on June 30, 1998. Rockingham Community College is a component of the State of North Carolina, thus the authority to audit is granted by Article 5A of G.S. 147. The accounts and operations of the institution were subject to audit procedures considered necessary to complete the audit work necessary for North Carolina's Comprehensive Annual Financial report (CAFR). In addition, auditing procedures considered necessary to report on the financial statements relating solely to Rockingham Community College were also performed. The objectives of the audit were to express an opinion on the financial statements; to present instances of noncompliance (if any) with laws, regulations, contracts or grants; and to present significant deficiencies (if any) in internal control over financial reporting. The tests found the financial statements to present the amounts and disclosures made in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles as described in the Independent Auditor's Report on the Financial Statements. The investigation also revealed that no instances of noncompliance or material weaknesses in internal control over financial reporting occurred which would require disclosure under the Government Auditing Standards.
