AbstractThis module is the first section of a four-part how-to manual for integrating curriculum in grades K-12, especially in Missouri. The module provides a definition for integrated learning and suggests ways to categorize types of integration. It also examines the benefits of integration for everyone involved and dispels many of the common myths about integration. The module presents two case studies and comments from teachers, students, and administrators who are actively involved in integration. The module is organized in two sections. The first section answers the following questions: What is integration? What form does integration take? and Who can be involved in integration?; it includes the Hallsville School case study. The second section, which includes the Kansas City East School case study, provides five answers to the question, "Why integrate?": the work force reason, the learning reason, the school efficiency reason, the social justice reason, and the benefits of integration. Contains descriptions of 10 school reform measures, a glossary defining 19 terms, and 24 references. (KC)
