| Abstract | The goals of the Educational Applications of Geographic Information Systems (EdGIS) Conference were to: showcase current applications of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, and other mapping software in pre-college education; develop a better understanding of the current state of the art in both GIS software and related curriculum development; prepare recommendations for further research and development in GIS; and promote public awareness and support for the educational uses of mapping software.
