Abstract | These two manuals provide teacher and student materials for a 175-hour trade and industrial program for students in grades 10-12, composed of six 30-hour courses designed to provide students with minimum competencies for the construction industry. The curriculum guide is organized in eight sections. The first section describes how to use the curriculum guide, common essential elements for all occupational programs, essential elements for trade and industrial education, essential elements for the course, and a suggested sequence by section. The following six sections focus on each 6-week occupational area of instruction: air conditioning and refrigeration; bricklaying/stone masonry; carpentry; residential electrical trade; painting and decorating; and plumbing/pipefitting. The final section covers additional common essential elements. Each course contains an instructional delivery outline that lists the unit and/or topic titles keyed to the essential elements that apply, the instructional materials needed, and the recommended hours for each unit. Lesson plans are provided for each 6-week section. Appendixes include modification techniques for special populations, 45 references, answers to assignment sheets, and pre/posttests and answers. The student materials manual contains corresponding units to the curriculum guide. Each unit consists of a topic, unit objective, specific objective, information sheets, questions to answer, procedures or tasks, and (in some cases) references. (KC) |
