Abstract | Data summaries are provided concerning the racial and ethnic distribution of enrollment in New York colleges and universities, drawn from a 1986-87 Higher Education Data System Survey form. Data are presented in 9 tables that provide total enrollment and percentage enrollment figures for undergraduate, first-professional, and graduate male and female students in the following racial/ethnic groups: nonresident alien, Black non-Hispanic, American Indian or Alaskan native, Asian or Pacific Islander, Hispanic, and White non-Hispanic. Data are provided for State University of New York (SUNY) institutions, City University of New York institutions, independent institutions, proprietary institutions, selected subject areas for SUNY institutions of 4 years or more, selected subject areas for independent institutions of 4 years or more, first-professional enrollment in selected subject areas, and percent distribution trends of enrollment by racial/ethnic category, level of student and year.
