Abstract | This syllabus, which is the first of a two-volume set describing the basic competencies needed by entry-level workers in the field of electronics, deals with the basic theories of electricity and electronics. Competencies are organized according to the following skills areas: the meaning of electricity, how electricity works, resistors, Ohm's law, electrical symbols, series circuit principles, parallel and series-parallel circuits, electrical currents, electrical measurement, solid-state devices, and electronics vocabulary. Each page in the syllabus presents a competency statement that is defined by an indicator, a performance objective, a benchmark, and one or more specific observable tasks or behaviors to be used as assessment criteria. Thirteen vocabulary quizzes and an answer key are appended. (MN) |
