| Abstract | This two-year evaluation study reviews the Perach Tutorial Project, a one-to-one tutorial project in Israel in which university students tutor children in socially disadvantaged areas in return for a partial tuition scholarship. The report contains: (1) an introduction; (2) a detailed description of the operation and structure of the project; (3) the methodological approach and research instruments employed; (4) the results of the cognitive and affective measures used to examine project impact, subjective reports of change, and results of measures of satisfaction; (5) data related to project implementation; (6) a discussion of project administration; (7) summaries of findings; (8) a discussion of findings; and (9) a list of recommendations for improvement of the project. Appendices include: all measures used in the study; tables of cognitive and affective test results; descriptions of several child-tutor pairs; sample letters from children, parents, and school staff; and a discussion of major methodological difficulties encountered.
