Abstract | To produce a publication which would introduce the rural and community development practitioner to a wide range of information sources, Community Resource Development Agents and Specialists in 12 northeast states were asked to list and annotate those publications and audiovisual materials which they used in their educational programs. To concentrate on educational materials which had already been found useful in conducting programs in the field, an effort was made to exclude material which was solely research-oriented or for development specialists only. It was not specified that entries should be either in-state or regional in nature, or that they should be produced solely within extension or the land-grant system. Entries are arranged categorically as follows: general and miscellaneous, growth and development, community services, housing, land use, natural resources, and community development processes and strategies. Individual entries are comprised of the title, institutional source, program or service, date, format, length, cost, audience, ordering address, key words, and a brief description or summary. The cross index is based on the key words provided as part of the annotation for each entry, as well as on the media format for non-print materials. Publication dates for the more than 400 entries range from 1948 to 1977 with the majority falling in the 1970's. Suggestions for other bibliographies to consult are given as well as a listing of independent information sources. (BR) |
