AbstractOne thousand and fifty-eight graduates from Carrollton High School (Michigan) between 1964 and 1975 were involved in a normative survey using a two-page questionnaire and telephone followup. It was hoped to discover strengths and weaknesses that might exist in the school's curriculum and to determine if the quality of education had met the needs of most graduates. Answers were received from 640 or 60.5 percent of the graduates. Selection of participating graduates was made by unrestricted sampling. Questions covered past and present employment, adequacy of high school experience in relation to work or study, factors affecting remaining in school to graduate, and satisfaction with guidance services. An analysis of data indicated that 70 percent of the respondents were satisfied with the educational program, that no drastic educational program changes were needed, and that a large number of graduates remained in the local area for further education and employment. Business education, science, and mathematics courses were reported as most beneficial. Guidance counseling and teacher performance were considered the weakest part of the program. Nine recommendations are made regarding school programs and services, activities, and teachers. A nine-page bibliography, the questionnaire, and the response coding system are appended. (Author/NH)
