| Abstract | This reference work lists approximately 900 games, covering almost all subject matter fields, which have sufficient intellectual content to be used for educational purposes by students ranging from the elementary grades to the university, government or business level. Arranged alphabetically by the name of the game, each entry provides information about: subject, the age or grade level for which it is appropriate, number of players, playing time, materials, designer, producer, distributor, and price, plus citations of sources which describe or evaluate the game. Also included are an index of designers and producers, a guide to subject areas, and a school and age level breakdown. Excluded are universal classic games such as chess and checkers, 52-card games, games that are purely matters of chance or which depend primarily upon physical skills, and--with a few special exceptions--war games.
