Abstract | This report highlights negotiations and trends occurring in the major collective bargaining in the province of Ontario, Canada in 1972. Bargaining during the year was centered primarily on non-manufacturing industries and in the public sector. Major issues negotiated were wages, improved working conditions, job security, and length of work week. Of significance was the fact that fewer work stoppages occurred in 1972 as opposed to the greatly increased number of strikes of 1970 and 1971 Man days lost, however, were greater in 1972. Many tables report the data on wages, earnings, and other relevant economic factors. (SN) |
