Abstract | Research comparing discovery and expository methods of presentation has yielded conflicting results. A review of the research on discovery learning is provided in this paper, focusing on the methodology of each study. Conclusions are drawn concerning the effects of discovery methods of presentation on initial learning, transfer, and retention. Use of a standardized concept learning task is recommended for future research on discovery methods of presentation. (Author) |
