Abstract | Background: Physical education is a very important part of the education programme in Bavarian grammar schools. It contents different kinds of sport including sports games. They are very popular among pupils and are practiced in their free time. Objective: The purpose of the research is to determine the role of sports games in Bavarian school physical education. Furthermore, the study shows the importance of sports games among other forms of sport for Bavarian pupils considering gender and the size of the town. Methods: The research method of this study is the analysis of the informational literature of the Bavarian State Department of Education in Munich and a special questionnaire for checking the importance of sports games among other forms of sport, practicing by Bavarian pupils. Altogether, 387 persons, age 18, from Bavarian grammar schools participated in the research including 91 boys and 97 girls were from the big town (more than 1 million inhabitants) and 93 boys and 106 from the small down (7.000 inhabitants). Results: It was shown, that sports games are a fundamental part of physical education in Bavarian schools. It was also observed, that sports games are important for Bavarian pupils, especially football and basketball for boys and handball and volleyball by girls. Conclusions: The gender and the size of town of the respondents differentiate the forms of sport practiced in their free time and desired sports as well. (Autor). |
