Abstract | The authors question the capacity of British IT policy to deliver education in the learning society of the 21st century. Elsewhere, in Singapore for example, decisive action is already being taken to resource the IT infrastructure and to train teachers to use it effectively. The authors argue that Britain's present ad hoc developments will leave it far behind other countries and that government needs to take a much firmer lead in implementing a national strategy for IT in partnership with educationists.
