AbstractThis collection of sixty postsecondary-level career guidance practices contains the following nine types of activities: novel practices such as games and role enactment, volunteering, field trips, special career emphases, intern/extern practices, work experience and exploration practices, exchanges, mobile practices, and educator inservices. A standard format (including a description of the activity, its objectives, a planning check list, a list of needed resources, procedures for gaining support of the practice, possible barriers to its implementation, activity management considerations, evaluation procedures, the name and address of the source of the activity, suggestions for effective implementation, and suggestions for additional activities) is followed for each practice. A search for fulfillment weekend, telephone and video tape practices, and lunch-time career workshops are among the novel activities included in the collection. Programs using retirees as tutors and helpers and adults as peer counselors and employment service volunteers are described. Plans for a women's career fair and a summer job fair/camp day are included among the collection's eight special career emphasis activities. A trading post exchange and three mobile activities are outlined. A total of fourteen educator inservice activities are presented. (Related documents contain similar career guidance materials for the elementary and secondary levels--see note.) (MN)
