| Abstract | The authors "take the discussion of quality principles and practices in higher education beyond the theory by providing practical examples of what happens when these principles are applied on college campuses. This information is based on the authors' in-depth study of 10 quality- oriented colleges and universities across the country.... The authors address the internal and external forces that are driving colleges and universities to change and describe the development and implementation of continuous improvement systems that will meet the challenges of today's competitive avademic environment. Also addressed are the barriers to implementing quality principles, as well as ways to remove them. In the final chapter, the authors present 12 lessons colleges can use as they begin their own quality improvement journeys." (DIPF/orig.). |
