Abstract | "In its totality, this book explores perspectives that are rarely available in primary literature publications and brings diverging fields together that are generally addressed separately in specialty journals. The authors aim to identify the best practices employed by African American practitioners, educators, and researchers, explore the lessons learned from African American academic educational institutions, provide in-depth analyses, and synthesis of the field of teachers' preparation, and also offer a unique insight of the methodologies employed to improve the teaching and learning of African American prospective teachers to improve the educational outcomes of students of color. The book aims to offer an organic academic paradigm based on the African American experience, mindful of the social challenges that African American students face, by implementing well tried targeted teaching and learning paradigm to bridge the achievement gap. In short, this book offers a perspective that is rarely shared or understood by researchers and practitioners in the field of education. Additionally, the book will describe the educational experience of prospective schoolteachers and leaders at the oldest black majority educational institution"--Provided by publisher. |
