Abstract	Librarians are the ultimate knowledge managers. Everyone knows that. After all, haven't they been the custodians of documented knowledge for centuries? Who could possibly do it better than them? Well, then why aren't people knocking down their doors, begging them to be the knowledge managers of the organisation? Are they just ignorant of how fantastic they are, or is it possible that librarians aren't the best people for the job? In the event, some librarians will go forth, gain new skills, and become leaders of Knowledge Management (KM) in their organisations, while others will move towards the important supporting roles of managing and retrieving information in using the power of such phenomena as metadata. Either way, librarians need to promote themselves and their skills more to their lay management. They do have a lot to offer in the changing world--they just need to make sure other people can see that too. (ERIC).
