| Abstract | The International Society for Performance Improvement has always been divided by two often-conflicting views of what its purpose or mission really is. Is it primarily technology focused (focusing on the development and promotion of the field) or member focused (focusing on members' interests and their professional development)? This difference in priorities can be seen in the various ways in which the leadership has shaped the Society and what it offers. Finally, we propose that the benefit of all forms of technology (information, electronic, biological, etc.) must ultimately be seen in terms of how they affect people's experience and performance. So human performance technology will become even more important to anyone involved in any form of technology development. (As Provided). |
