Abstract | A postmodern and integral co-inquiry led by the authors, with Lucinda as "client," offered a unique unconventional and postconventional perspective on a client's case review. Utilizing integral theory (Wilber) as a guideline for a theory of holons and change, the co-investigators reflect upon and trans(per)form a learning experiment around the question of "why has Lucinda's family been unable to solve the problem of a chronically drunken spouse, father, and recent grandfather?" Offerings from this investigation suggest the therapeutic and educational value of a case review that includes and transcends the client's input and perspective as well as intervening into the holon dynamics of the family system (Minuchin & Fishman). Methodological issues are discussed, a future treatment plan is sketched, and benefits and limitations of such an approach are included as a potential model for other caregivers (professional and lay) dealing with alcoholism and developmental pathologies. ["Case of the Drunken Holon: An Integral Performative Co-Inquiry" was written with Lucinda.] (As Provided). |
