Abstract | The primary research question addressed in this paper is: What ISLLC 2008 Standards "functions" are considered to be the most important by a national sample of school superintendents when applied to the process of principal evaluation? A Friedman Test for related samples on the Standards "functions" determined that the five most important "functions" that influence a national cross section of superintendents when evaluating principals are: "Be an advocate for children" (VI); "Model principles of ethical behavior" (V); "Promote and protect the welfare and safety of students" (III); "Nurture and sustain a culture of learning" (II); "Implement a plan to achieve the school's goals" (I); "Nurture and sustain a culture of high expectations" (II).
