Abstract	When it comes to supporting individuals with disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) can be an invaluable tool in understanding and changing behavior. More than a technique or method, ABA is a disciplined approach rooted in science to teach specific skills and then reinforce them so individuals can continue on with positive learning in the future. The basic assumption of ABA is that almost all behavior is learned based on its relationship with the environment. The consequences that follow behavior, such as reinforcement, punishment, and extinction, have an effect on whether that behavior will continue on in the future. ABA is an individualized approach that focuses on increasing and teaching appropriate behaviors or responses as well as decreasing inappropriate behaviors. ABA is not only successful in this approach, but also creates an environment of growth and learning. It is particularly useful in working with individuals with ASD because they often have limited reinforcement preferences and motivation. (ERIC).
