Abstract | Fundraising has never been a strong suit for most community colleges. But in recent years, it's become a major focus. Forced to offset a decrease in government funding to help pay for student scholarships, capital improvement projects, and additional personnel to launch new educational programs, community college leaders have been forced to generate more homegrown funding. Community colleges face stiff competition for fundraising dollars, from four-year universities to non-profit organizations. But community college administrators and fundraising consultants say there are simple, yet effective strategies two-year colleges can deploy to raise money. Technology, such as database management software and Web tools, can aid fundraising campaigns. This article presents some fundraising techniques and technology tools recommended by community college administrators and consultants. (ERIC). |
