Abstract | The state of Virginia is in danger of cutting library resources to meet the state's Standards of Quality (SOQs), which assigns a minimum requirement for staffing a library. There is no greater time to advocate for school libraries. The author argues that now, more than ever, is the time to continue advocacy efforts to provide quality staffing for school libraries. The author is continuing to advocate, along with librarians and teachers in her district, to support quality staffing in the district's libraries. This article presents seven tips to help advocate for one's library program. These include: (1) monthly report; (2) newsletter; (3) thank you note; (4) presenting workshops; (5) faculty meetings; (6) media connection; and (7) leadership role. (ERIC). |
