Abstract | This study examined the selection process at the Sultan Qaboos University MBA program in relation to other respected institutions in the Gulf area and worldwide to determine the reason(s) for the high rate of attrition among students joining the MBA program. In addition, the study assessed the correlation between Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) scores and success on the program. We found that there was almost unanimity among the interviewees regarding the need to reconsider the GMAT, the cost of MBA courses; and marketing the program. Researchers found no research study or statistical report that shows there is a direct relationship between the top academic performers with those who score high on the GMAT. (Contains 2 tables.)
