Abstract | The purpose of this quantitative research study is to identify variables that lead students to having thoughts of leaving their institution, talking with someone about leaving their institution, or taking steps to leave their institution. This attrition study identifies variables that institutional faculty, administrators, and staff can address with current students. The negative variables can be reduced while the positive variables can be enhanced to improve the overall retention of students. The variables with the most significant influence on students having thoughts or who have taken action to leave the institution were satisfaction with their institution, followed by a lack of emotional preparedness and emotional stability. There were other variables that also showed a significant impact on students having thoughts, talking to someone, and/or taking steps to leave their institution. (Contains 6 tables.) (As Provided). |
