| Abstract | While the frequency of program evaluations has increased, evaluations often have limited effectiveness because the information they provide is not adequately conferred throughout the school system. Whether or not a specific program shows merit, the organization can benefit by using that information to increase knowledge among organization members, who in turn work together to improve the system as a whole. The systems approach advocated by Senge emphasizes feedback as imperative to increasing individual and group understanding that promotes organizational learning. Schools can take advantage of top-down federal requirements such as those required by the No Child Left Behind Act, by using program evaluation and accountability data to promote strategies that support systemic improvement leading to improved student learning.
