Abstract | This article describes how a relatively small southwest Ohio career and technical education (CTE) school is making a big impression on students, their future employees, and the industry with its near 100 percent passage rate of the Ohio Board of Cosmetology exam every year and a matching placement rate. With a mission to prepare youths and adults for successful careers, the Warren County Career Center (WCCC) in Lebanon, Ohio, has developed 28 workforce development programs, including a cosmetology program that is a premier example of a great partnership between instructors and the district. The high school program has a waiting list every year for its 20 available spots in the junior class, and the adult education course recently opened in 2007 with 12 students. In addition to the instructors' dedication, the school credits the rigorous curriculum as a major factor in students' successes over the years. (ERIC). |
