| Abstract | A quick poll of how physical educators grade students would likely reveal that most grade on such things as participation and improvement. While this sounds acceptable, in practice, grading most often reflects a scheme based on attendance or seat time, with fitness and skill testing added at the conclusion of a unit. Physical educators who would like to reward effort, participation, improvement, and learning outcomes that occur throughout the unit often feel they lack the assessment tools to do so. This article explores Program Practice Sheets (PPS) that are designed to help all students in their individual skill learning process. The PPS is a formative, not summative, assessment. This allows all students to succeed in the learning process, where they might not do as well with a product or summative skill assessment. (Contains 2 tables and 2 notes.) (ERIC). |
