Abstract	No good time exists to face the realities of attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Children across the United States and Canada are accompanied to clinics and schools by frightened, worried parents. In the book, In Understanding ADHD (2001), Ken and Andrea McCluskey bring to life the realities of the everyday journey of coping with the effects of ADHD in a fascinating personal story. The examples and personal and professional opinions do not "scare" off those who work with affected children. Instead, they provide the opportunity to view the children in a positive, respectful manner, while addressing appropriate behaviors. Their personal and professional accounts provide insight and encouragement for parents and teachers alike. Regardless of the many concerns produced by Amber's behavior, in this moving account, Ken and Andrea are seen moving forward in their parenting with an optimism that, while undying, was frequently tempered by the many challenges they faced. The book is truly inspiring. This article briefly highlights the book. (ERIC).
