Abstract | A study of 220 faculty advisor-doctoral student dyads found that students were more likely to be in developmental relationships with advisors of similar race and gender; perceived similarity was related to the mentoring received. Those in gender-dissimilar dyads received less mentoring initially but more in the long term; no similar race effects were found. (Contains 67 references.) (SK) |
