Abstract | Results of a study of learning disabled children's conversational competence indicate that they may not be providing their conversational partners with feedback that others need to adapt their communicative style to these children's comprehension levels. The difficulty in identifying social contexts where different conversational rules apply may help to account for many learning disabled children's problems in classroom adjustment. (SL) |
