Abstract | This study examines a student-created "pop-up museum" about the opioid epidemic that was part of a project-based service-learning (PBSL) experience in a college course. A survey of student perceptions of the learning experience, a course evaluation, and a survey of museum visitors' perceptions of their experiences with the museum evaluated key elements of PBSL. Students reported advancements in key elements of PBSL, including subject matter expertise, communication skills, collaboration, critical thinking, and civic engagement. In addition, museum visitors reported increased knowledge about the opioid epidemic. The results suggest that student-created pop-up museums can be rewarding PBSL experiences. (As Provided). |
