Abstract | Since the inception of new, rigorous standards in reading instruction across the nation, literacy pedagogy has become a focus of renewed interest. The use of newspapers as a supplementary, expository text must be examined in terms of new standards and trends in newspaper readership. This study found that teachers would like more information on Newspapers in Education (NIE) and have interest in their use, but somewhat unsure of how to use them to achieve the curricular goals. Teachers tend to rely on materials provided by the school where they teach. (As Provided). |
