Abstract | Internships provide space for both undergraduate and graduate students to apply theory to practice through real-world experiences to prepare individuals for a world of work. In this article, the authors share how this preparation occurs during the Shippensburg University's Department of Counselor Education's rigorous internship experience and challenges readers to consider how they might create these unique learning moments at their own institutions. The authors underscore the importance of faculty and staff collaborations in creating and sustaining robust internship experiences to assist students in becoming highly marketable in a strongly competitive job market. Although this article is written through the lens and conceptual framework of a graduate student affairs preparation program, the examples hold the possibility for application in undergraduate academic disciplines, as well.
