Abstract | Understanding the needs of parents with children with hearing loss (HL) is necessary to best support both the children and their families beyond what they have received in early intervention programs. The objective of this paper is to present the perspective of parents regarding their participation in a group intervention with their child and the impact this had on them as the parent of a child with HL. This qualitative study used semi-structured interviews completed after the group intervention. Interviews were transcribed verbatim and analyzed thematically. Two main themes emerged: (1) opportunities and the need for continued support, and (2) connections and joy. These results support the need for programs that offer ongoing strategies, resources, and connectedness for families beyond early intervention initiatives. (As Provided). |
