Abstract | How can literacy learning occur effectively in a secondary school context? In this study, two experienced literacy leaders worked in collaboration with social studies teachers and a literacy facilitator to plan and implement an intervention designed to improve the literacy skills and knowledge of a small group of students, in the context of a Year 9 and a Year 10 social studies class. The findings of this study suggest that collaboration between teachers to develop literacy skills in the context of a secondary class can be effective, and result in improved literacy outcomes for secondary students.
